list the detail of motor deconstruction

Mon - 17/02/2014 - Engineering System - week 6

Tutor explain as we learn how the assemble object are put in place. It is similar to assemble instruction that has the list of components. then tutor show us the picture of the classic mini cooper car that was split down the center then he showed us all the parts and components that was put in place.

Tutor showed us the type of of material and parts are put into the Motor as we take apart all the components of motor that was in place then we take note of the each components such as manufacturing process and usage.

Example: The original motor with motors holder all in it's place

Then we take out this motor and the motor holder plastic into pieces using screw driver.

Drew 3rd project drawing of prototype block - 27/01/2014 - Tue - week 3

27/01/2014 - Tue - week 3

First learn about the how to draw 1st and 3rd projection of a assemble parts when the tutor explain about it with computer chair. Then picture of a computer chair separated into plan (top) view, front view and  2 side views. Example:

I Drew 3rd project engineering drawing by looking at the prototype block. the drawings include the plan view, side views by the third angle projection on A3 paper using ruler and pencil and eraser.
the scale we use for the drawings of the block is 1:1. Example:

Instruction of using accurate measuring tools

 week 5 - Mon - 10/02/2014 - Engineering system

instruction of using micrometer and Vernier Callipers

The Micrometer

The micrometer is a accurate measuring tools, used by engineer. Usually used for measuring small range of objects and gears.

Each rotation of the Rachet makes the spindle face moves 0.5mm towards the Anvil Face, an object to be measured is placed between the ANVIL FACE and the SPINDLE FACEThe rachet is turned clockwise until the object is ‘trapped’ between these two surfaces and the rachet makes a ‘clicking’ noise. This means that the rachet cannot be tightened any more and the measurement can be read.

The measurement on sleeve with each lines present full millimetres(mm) and below the full mm lines shows the 0.5mm scales which is below the line of written number. The measurement line on the Thimble present the measurement that adds up to the 0.05 mm.

example of reading the measurement of an object is shown below:

Sleeve (top + Below scale):
Top scale = 13mm

Thimble = 0.43

Total measurement of the round object  = 13.43

There is also the measuring tools call the The Depth Gauge Micrometer used for measuring the depth of an object and can be measure the same way as Micrometer.

Vernier Calliper

This measuring tools is also use for measuring the engineering object precisely, mostly used by Engineer. When it comes to measuring the cup shape cylinder, this tools is very useful.

The instruction of Using Calliper is start by sliding the jaw to the wideness of an object you want to measure then locking the screw will prevent the External or Internal jaw to moves.
Next you start off by looking at the measuring metric scale on the rule to read the measurement . Example:

There is another type of measuring tools called Digital Calliper which calculated on it's own and display the measurement on the screen and it's much easier to use.

Monday - 03/ 02/ 2014 practical building bridge structure design

03/02/2014 - Monday - First me(Zin) and my classmate Ganosi used the pencil and A4 paper to draw the designed to the bridge. We name it "the Burmese Bridge" then build the prototype bridge using 7 paper straws, tape and blue tack.  Next, our tutor test the stiffness straw bridge by attaching a string to the middle of the bridge then slowly increasing the weight on the string until it's bent and fall.

We pick this design because it's one of the effective structure design can be used by less materials in  civil engineering as most triangle shape structure has more thickness then the other shape of structure. For example:

Tutor showed us in the lecture that the more depth of the material has more stiffness then the inner layer depth of the material. For example:

Calculation image above shows how the depth improves the stiffness of the structure.
